I didn't post yesterday, but all day I considered these words about Jesus:
John 7: 10b
But He traveled in secret to avoid drawing any public attention.
The breath-prayer for the day was : Jesus, I wait--for your timing.
Jesus was intentional with his timing and sensitive to when and how people experienced him. Jesus was on mission and was focused on how to complete his journey to Jerusalem.
I wonder how Jesus stays under the radar in our lives at times, not drawing attention to the work of the Spirit in us, but yet accomplishing the mission of God in our lives in secret. Often when people talk about the work of God in their lives, there are circumstances that prepared the way for what God is doing that they never would have realized until later. And I am sure, there is much missional work that the Spirit is secretly doing in us that we may never recognize as marked by Christ until we see him face to face.
This idea of the secret-work of God captures my imagination. The God who directs our paths without our knowing, who secretly is on the move in our lives. Perhaps if we knew it was God at certain times, we would reject and resist God's work--out of our fear or our sin.
I do believe that God does not let people go. God woos them, waits with them, and works in secret in their lives, ever calling them to Love.
When we do recognize God in our lives, we can be sure that God is intentional about being "revealed".
